DISCERNING SHORT STORIES
In the unit we will learn to purposefully annotate in order to understand author’s craft. We will draw insightful conclusions on literary elements such as characters, conflicts, setting, themes, and writing style We do simply want to skim & summarize, but closely-read and re-read, spend time with the language and read below the surface.
Essential Questions:
How can we discern author's craft through close-reading strategies? What is close reading? How can we use in it in our literary and day to day lives? How can understanding literary elements allow readers to see the intention of the author?
